Candidates Sought for First Clipper City Co-op Board of Directors

 

With 179 member-owners, Clipper City Co-op has reached a key milestone and is seeking nominations for its first board of directors, to be elected at the Co-op’s first annual meeting on November 5, 2016. 

 

Nominations will be taken through September 10.  To nominate yourself or someone else for this position, contact the nominating committee at clippercitycoop@clippercitycoop.com.  Candidates for the board must be member-owners of the Co-op at the time of nomination.

CLIPPER CITY COOP ANNOUNCES ITS MARCH OPEN MEETING
The next open meeting of the Clipper City Coop will be held Sunday, March 20th, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm at CrossFit, 3651 Dewey St, Manitowoc. All are invited.

 

The event will kick off with a popup market from 1:00 to 2:00 pm featuring eight local vendors and a variety of locally grown products including meats, syrups, jams, eggs, greens and nonfood items.

 

A meeting of Coop member owners and interested others will follow from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. At 2:00 pm we will host a 30 minute informational Q/A session, followed by progress reports from each subcommittee of the Coop and a discussion of committee needs. Member owner packets will be available.

 CLIPPER CITY CO-OP ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST OPEN MEETING OF 2016
Join us Saturday, January 23rd at the Manitowoc YMCA in the upper level conference room.  Stock up on frozen meats, eggs, garlic, mixed greens and  root vegetables locally grown at Kellner Back Acre, River of Dreams, Hemlock Ridges and Red Belly Farms.  Producer sales begin at 6pm followed by our open meeting at 7pm.  

 

Our consultant, Jacqueline Hannah, a development specialist at Food Co-op Initiative, a nonprofit company that helps new co-ops get off the ground will present at the meeting and answer questions. Our open meetings will be scheduled at various locations throughout the county the third week of every month. The event is free and open to the public.

Clipper City Co-op has been awarded a $10,000 matching grant and is announcing the kick-off of their membership drive.  With the initial goal of financing their market and feasibility study, several milestone goals have been set.  The market and feasibility study will help determine the location, size and other specifics of our future food co-op.  It is vital that the co-op reaches these milestones if we are to move towards opening the doors of the co-op.   We invite members of the community to invest their time, talents and treasure in this very exciting investment in our local community.  More information on membership and how you can help is available on the website at:  www.clippercitycoop.com .  In support of their mission of transparency and community participation, Clipper City Co-op has open meetings the 4th Monday of each month.  Stop by September 28th at 6:30pm in the Cooperstown room at Holy Family Wellness Center, 1650 S. 41st Street, Manitowoc.
